Murch
Directors: Edie and David Ichioka
Showing: May 30, 2pm, Crown Hall
(Filmmaker in person) Murch is a master class in the cinematic arts of sound design and editing, taught by one of the foremost practitioners in the business. This class is required. Walter Murch is just as brilliant in speaking about his work as he is in the making of it. A generous trove of illustrative film clips from his career is interpolated with his teachings, as he recalls his beginnings, his longtime collaboration with Francis Ford Coppola, his restoration of Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil, and so much more. And, oh, the stories. As extra credit, there will be more stories. We are thrilled to have Pat Jackson, Murch’s longtime associate, editor and sound supervisor present with us at this screening.
